MWF additive specialist Polartech strengthens its global manufacturing capability
On the 19th June 2008 metalworking fluid technology supplier Polartech Additives (Suzhou) Company Limited held a grand opening ceremony to celebrate the successful completion of it most recent investment, a state of the art manufacturing facility located in Suzhou Industrial Park, Suzhou, China.
Attending the celebration were around 150 guests, including local dignitaries, guests from the British Consulate and officials from Suzhou Industrial Park.
The newly established 25,000 square metre plant, located close to the economic hub of Shanghai, represents an investment of USD 20 million; with its initial phase 1 production capacity of 10,000 tons of additives per year (expandable to 30,000 tons in phase 3).

During the press conference at the opening ceremony Mr. Dowding, CEO of the Polartech Group commented:
“This is a very exciting time for Polartech. We have been trading in the Asia Pacific region for over 20 years, and this market is of great importance to us. We have already achieved tremendous success in this region, particularly in China, and the completion of this project will allow us to be a powerful partner to local lubricant manufacturers who supply, or wish to supply, into the metalworking fluid marketplace.”
Roman Mikolajewicz, Operations Manager for Polartech Group, added:
“The completion of the project at Suzhou, has realised the expected ‘flagship’ status within the Polartech group. The technology employed is state of the art; with a piggable transfer infrastructure that pushes the boundaries of waste minimisation to new levels. The fully networked control system provides the highest quality standards available within the industry today with an exceptional balance of ‘real time’ process control and comprehensive data acquisition. The design and construction of this plant was executed with primary objectives being; world leading quality and ‘best in class’ from a safety, health and environmental perspective.”





The celebrations at the opening ceremony included a traditional a Chinese lion dance, modern and traditional string music and a Chinese face change performance. Speeches were given by Paul Golesworthy (DGM, Polartech Additives Suzhou), Neil Floyd (British Consulate, Trade and Investment) and Madam Sun (Vice Chairman, Suzhou Industrial Park).
After a plant tour and banquet Mr. Dowding led a toast to thank all the attendees and wish Polartech good luck and prosperity in the future.
